We are often asked: "How much should I water?" When it comes to watering, the saying ‘to measure is to know’ also applies. A rain gauge is therefore an indispensable tool. For efficient watering, we recommend the following:
Do not water too soon. Much of the damage to lawns and garden beds is caused by watering too early or unnecessarily. Always check first whether the soil is still sufficiently moist.
Use the correct amount of water. For most soil types, it is not necessary to apply more than 25 to 30 mm per watering session. This is usually sufficient for about three to four days. Excessive watering can compact the soil and leach nutrients and trace elements, potentially causing damage.
Avoid watering in full sun. The best times to water are early in the morning or in the evening after sunset.
Larger amounts of water applied less often are preferable to small daily doses. This promotes deeper root growth and makes plants more resilient.
