Organic fertilisation of potting soils: new perspectives with MINIGRAN® TECHNOLOGY

MINIGRAN® TECHNOLOGY is an innovative and unique production system for the production of organic fertilisers in the form of mini-granules. Trails show that this unique organic microgranule offers significant advantages when used in potting soils.

Up to 60% better distribution

Scientific trials conducted by AgroLab in Merelbeke, Belgium (2003) show that organic fertilisers produced with MINIGRAN® TECHNOLOGY reduce variability in fertiliser content per potting soil sample by up to 60% compared with pellets, and by 45% compared with crumbles. In practical terms, this means that MINIGRAN® ensures a far more uniform and consistent distribution of nutrients throughout the potting soil. Thanks to its very small particle size, the microgranule is also exceptionally well suited for use in potting soils for press pots.

Faster starting effect with the same long-lasting action

The same trials show that, after application of organic fertilisers in MINIGRAN®, the first nutrients become available to the plants much faster than when using the same fertiliser in pellet or in crumble form [source: AgroLab, Merelbeke, Belgium (2003)]. Moreover, it appears that the long-lasting effect is maintained.

Increased phosphorus (P) availability for plants

It was also observed that organic fertilisers in MINIGRAN® form make significantly more phosphorus (P) available to plants—up to twice as much compared with crumble formulations and up to three times as much compared with pellet forms. This effect is most evident during the first 40 days following application [source: AgroLab, Merelbeke, Belgium (2003)]. As phosphorus plays a crucial role in root development, this improved nutrient availability explains why the use of DCM Organic Fertilisers produced with MINIGRAN® TECHNOLOGY leads to stronger root systems and, consequently, more vigorous plants.
