DCM ECOR® 5, the first organic fertiliser with extra long-lasting action

DCM ECOR® 5, an organic MINIGRAN® Technology fertiliser, has specific advantages for (organic) container cultivation: an extra long-lasting, controlled action, significantly less leaching and less loss during top dressing.

DCM ECOR® 5 in MINIGRAN® Technology (NPK 8-5-6) is a 100% organic fertiliser offering an extra long-lasting, controlled action. Whereas the duration of effectiveness of conventional high-quality organic fertilisers is 75 to 100 days, DCM ECOR® 5 releases its nutrients over a period of 100 to 150 days, without using coating or inhibitors.

100 to 150 days

In addition to a wide range of organic raw materials, each with their own NPK value and release pattern, DCM ECOR® 5 also contains natural plant extracts. The homogeneous mixture of organic raw materials and plant extracts obtained during the MINIGRAN® granulation process ensures optimal complexation and uniform release of nutrients from each MINIGRAN® granule for 100 to 150 days. Because of this extra long-lasting action, DCM ECOR® 5 is ideal for crops grown in pots with a growing time of 100 to 150 days.

Cost-saving

In long-term crops (more than 150 days), the top dressing frequency and dose can be reduced, so that labour and product costs remain lower. Thanks to MINIGRAN® Technology, the small DCM ECOR® 5 granules remain in place and don’t roll of the substrate or potting soil during top dressing. The latter can be the case for coated chemical fertilisers in the form of small balls. The small dimensions of the MINIGRAN® granules also ensure an even distribution in the substrate and a homogeneous action.

Also in high doses

DCM ECOR® 5 can also be applied in higher doses than conventional organic fertilisers, without risk of burning or leaching. This makes it perfectly suitable for plants with high nutrient requirements, but which are also sensitive to (overly) high salt concentrations at the start of the cultivation.

Less leaching

Additional advantage: thanks to the gradual and prolonged release, DCM ECOR® 5 in MINIGRAN^® Technology has proved to reduce leaching losses. Therefore, the efficiency of the applied units is higher and the environmental impact is lower, which is ideal for sustainable fertilization. DCM ECOR® 5 5 is therefore particularly suitable for organic container cultivation.

ECOR: Efficient Controlled Organic Release

DCM developed its own value to determine the duration of action and nutrient release of its 100% organic fertilisers. The ECOR® (Efficient Controlled Organic Release) value indicates the number of days during which the fertiliser releases its nutrients in a controlled and gradual manner. Each organic fertiliser in the DCM range thus has its own ECOR® value.

DCM ECOR® 5, a very special fertiliser, is the result of a four-year project led by the research centre Scientia Terrae vzw with support from IWT (Agentschap voor Innovatie door Wetenschap en Technologie in Vlaanderen - Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders).
