Step 1:
Autumn fertilization
The secret of a strong lawn during the winter months is an appropriate autumn fertilization that emphasizes on potassium and contains magnesium and iron. Potassium hardens off the lawn, so that it will be strong enough to get through the winter. Magnesium and iron ensure a deep green leaf colour, even in winter.
Thanks to this fertilization, the lawn will also be less susceptible to disease and more resistant to foot traffic. This means it will have a step ahead in spring, giving weeds and moss less chance to develop.
DCM AUTUMN, NPK 8-4-15 + 3 MgO + iron: the ideal formula for a deep green lawn, even in the height of winter. Thanks to the small size and homogeneous composition of the MINIGRAN® granules, this fertiliser can be spread evenly for a uniform grass colour.
Dosage: 5 – 7 kg/100 m² compound organic fertiliser NPK containing magnesium 8-4-15 + (3) + iron
Step 2:
Re-seeding bare spots
In addition to appropriate fertilization, it is advisable to re-seed (large) bare spots. Autumn is the ideal time to do this because the soil is still warm enough to ensure good germination. For re-seeding bare spots or overseeding the lawn, the original grass seed mixture can be used. But DCM has also developed a specific mixture: DCM GRASZAAD RIPARO®.
This fast-germinating mixture ensures rapid repair of bare spots and successful overseeding of existing lawns. Thanks to its high competitiveness, bare spots are quickly filled in, reducing the risk of weed growth and moss formation. DCM GRASZAAD RIPARO® is composed of fine-leaf varieties and therefore perfectly suitable for use in existing ornamental, sports & play lawns.
Dosage overseeding: 1 - 2 kg/100 m²
Dosage repairing bare spots : 20 g/m²
Step 3:
Maintenance liming
Don’t forget annual liming! This counteracts natural acidification and promotes grass growth. A Good acidity level strongly determines the overall condition of the lawn (ideal pH for lawns: 6 – 6,5).
DCM GREEN-LIME® contains 15 % of magnesium (MgO), making it the ideal lime fertiliser for lawns. Its low hardness and good solubility ensure fast action. Moreover, the granules are easy to spread.
Dosage: 10 – 15 kg/100 m², depending on pH analysis, to be applied in autumn, during the winter months or in early spring
