Green Electricity and No Water Waste

The production process of our fertilisers is focused on energy efficiency and heat recovery, with close attention to avoiding waste water discharge.

Continuous Optimisation and Green Energy

We are committed to systematically reducing CO2 emissions per product produced. To this end, we pursue an energy policy based on the three steps of the Trias Energetica concept. This is a three-step strategy to make energy policy more sustainable as part of a continuous optimisation process.

01. We reduce the demand for energy by preventing waste: letting in as much daylight as possible, a production process that is as energy efficient as possible, LED lighting, motion sensors for the lighting in the warehouse and offices, etc.

02. We use renewable energy. We operate 1,520 of our own solar panels and purchase only 100% green electricity, further reducing our CO₂ emissions.

03. Only if really needed, we use fossil fuels in the most efficient way possible.

Did you know?

Did you know that our headquaters in Grobbendonk is a nearly zero energy (NZE) building? This means that very little energy is used for heating, ventilation, cooling and hot water. The building draws its energy from renewable sources. To achieve this impressive example of innovation, we have integrated all modern techniques of sustainable construction, such as sun shading, solar panels, high-performance insulation and even concrete core activation. Pleasant for our employees and for the environment.

No Waste Water for Healthy Soil

Just as we do with energy, we also use water sparingly. Since clean water is becoming increasingly scarce worldwide, we at DCM want to contribute our part. Our production process is designed to keep water consumption as low as possible and uses groundwater from a source provided for this purpose on our site.

The rainwater collected from the roofs of our office buildings and warehouses is partially returned to the soil by first passing through an infiltration basin. In this way, the groundwater is gradually replenished. To guarantee soil health as well, we systematically test the soil.

Did you know?

Did you know that we have the status of “zero-discharge company” for the production of our fertilisers? This means that, in principle, the water used in the production process at DCM is not discharged. Thanks to a smart production process, this water is either absorbed into the final product or evaporates during the drying process, thereby preventing the generation of waste water!

The circular economy aims to prevent us from ultimately depleting our scarce resources, such as clean water. At DCM, we are also committed to contributing to a better world through the sourcing of our raw materials:

  • 75% of our raw materials are circular.

  • We avoid packaging as much as possible by purchasing in bulk.
