DCM certified with the Taking Climate Action label

We are all facing an enormous challenge when it comes to climate. We are taking on this challenge: with innovative products and packaging concepts, but also through investments in adapted production facilities and company buildings, with lower energy consumption and increased use of renewable energies. See also the article: Green electricity and no water waste.

That is why we work from a NZE (Nearly Zero Energy) headquarters and have been certified with the Taking Climate Action label since 2021! This means that, wherever possible, we reduce the CO2 emissions of our production facilities and offset the remaining CO2 emissions through climate protection projects.

This is done in collaboration with CO2logic, a Belgian expert in carbon footprinting. The Taking Climate Action label is also validated by Vinçotte, an independent and international certification body. The CO2 emissions that are taken into account are not only related to production but to the entire business operations (scope 1 & 2), including the emissions from company cars and general office infrastructure.

"DCM now holds the Taking Climate Action label and thus takes responsibility for the real impact of its CO2 emissions, instead of passing it on to society and future generations."

Jeroen Hulsmans of CO2Logic

What we cannot reduce, we compensate for

Despite our continuous efforts to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, we cannot completely avoid CO2 emissions. That is why we compensate for any remaining emissions by supporting climate protection projects in Indonesia.

DCM is currently supporting the Wind Energy project in Vietnam, at the Hao Binh Wind Farm. The aim of the project is to produce sustainable energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The offshore wind farm generates clean electricity for thousands of households in Vietnam.

Did you know …

that we use a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) or air after-treatment system? With this installation, we purify the air released from DCM production in accordance with applicable standards. It is a major investment we are proud of! In this way, we are once again taking another step in our sustainability policy.

How does an RTO work ?

First, the air is "washed" in the gas scrubber. The substances removed from this air are reused as raw materials. After that, the air is made odourless by post-combustion. The air is post-combusted in such a way that nearly all energy is recovered. Finally, the purified air is released back into the environment.
