PMV®-01

PMV®-01 is a plant protection product against damage caused by Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) on tomatoes. The product is based on the principle of cross-protection : young tomato plants are treated with a unique, mild and stable isolate of PepMV virus (isolate 1906 of the Chilean strain, CH2). This isolate will rapidly colonize the plants, thus protecting them from damage caused by other, more aggressive PepMV-isolates. The isolate causes no symptoms on the fruits and has no effect on production, nor on quality. But PMV®-01 is more than just a product, it is a strategy. Taking pre- and post-vaccination leaf samples is part of the vaccination strategy. The purpose of these samples is firstly to determine whether PepMV is not present in the plants prior to the application of PMV®-01, and secondly to confirm the successful installation of the vaccine. A team of technical experts will carry out the post-vaccination visit and will be available year-round for virus-related support.

Application and dosage

• Timing: Apply as soon as possible after planting
• Application: Spray application
• Dosage: 1 treatment with 4 to 8 L PMV®-01 /ha (diluted in 160 to 300L water)
• Spraying pressure: High pressure of 5 to 7 bar
• Temperature: Product should be kept at refrigerator temperature (4°C). Temperature of the solution should not exceed 15°C during application.

Given the possible negative impact on the action of PMV-01, it is strongly advised not to mix this product with other agents. It is also important to start treatment with a clean, rinsed tank so that any residues of e.g. disinfectants are removed before application.
