During the winter months, football fields are used intensively. But heavy rainfalls sometimes pose a problem. Adequate drainage of rainwater is therefore one of the essential conditions for a good natural grass field.

In addition to good drainage in the subsoil, it is important to ensure that the top layer is sufficiently draining to prevent puddles from forming on the playing surface during heavy rainfall.

  • Therefore, check the drainage system before winter..

  • Mechanical aeration (e.g. verti-drain) will improve the permeability of the top layer. It may also be recommended to lighten the top layer by slightly sanding it.
