Why TURFORTE® BOOST?
Sports field and golf course turf has to face numerous challenges : frequent foot traffic, repeated mowing, periods of drought, constant temperature fluctuations, etc. This calls for strong and resilient plants. At the same time, the pressure on field managers and greenkeepers is high: quality expectations are high, maintenance opportunities are limited due to constant use, and working conditions are often variable. TURFORTE® BOOST has been developed to provide a fast and reliable solution in this specific context.
This liquid fertiliser contains an optimal mix of quickly absorbable nitrogen, potassium and iron. Its unique composition promotes smooth nutrient uptake without causing growth peaks. In this way, it contributes to gradual and even growth. In addition, this fertiliser contains extract of Ascophyllum nodosum, a long-lived seaweed that lives in extreme conditions with changing tides, and has a unique composition of bioactive substances.
Thanks to its sophisticated formula, TURFORTE® BOOST is not just a fertiliser, but a valuable support for the specific turf management of sports fields and golf courses. Its liquid form makes it easy to apply and fast-acting, which makes it ideal in spring, when a good start is essential, but also before a match or tournament or after scarifying. The result: a playing surface that recovers faster, is more resistant to abiotic stress thanks to good nutrient uptake, and looks more attractive.
How does TURFORTE BOOST work?
First and foremost, nitrogen sources are used that can be easily absorbed by the grass through the blades: urea and specifically selected amino acids with small dimensions. Once absorbed by the blades, the grass can use the amino acids quickly and in an energy efficient way to form proteins. Urea acts as a supplement: a nitrogen source that the grass must first convert into amino acids, but that works faster and more efficiently than nitrate. This smart combination provides the grass with ready-to-use building blocks and stimulates it to efficiently convert nutrients itself. This keeps the conversion process active, while less energy is required to form proteins. The grass can use that energy for what really matters: strong and healthy growth and a vigorous turf.
In addition, thanks to the added plant-specific iron complex, iron can also be absorbed quickly and efficiently incorporated into the grass with minimal energy. This is due to the unique properties of iron citrate:
Small molecule – penetrates the leaf surface more easily
Neutrally charged – is not repelled by the negatively charged leaf cells
Fast release – binding with citrate is less strong than with traditional chelates
Easily transportable – quickly reaches the areas where it is needed
The result: a dense, deep green turf in no time. The fast and vigorous growth also ensures that moss has no chance to develop in the turf.
For golf course superintendents it is also important that TURFORTE® BOOST does not leave 'rust stains' on paved areas. That is why no iron sulphate has been added, unlike traditional products.
