Vletter & Den Haan is a leading company in the field of lily cultivation. Its origins date back to the 1960s, when the company started importing lilies. Some time later, Vletter & Den Haan started selecting, breeding and propagating lilies, a business which expanded to the propagation and sale of lily bulbs.

In the field of lily breeding, quality is paramount at Vletter & Den Haan. The entire process of breeding, forcing, growth and flowering is extensively tested in the in-house laboratory, in the company’s own greenhouses and at external locations. To ensure optimal quality in the exhibition greenhouses, Vletter & Den Haan has been using DCM organic fertilisers for several years. The slow release of nutrients in the right proportions allows us to grow high-quality plants, according to Nico Vletter.

Organic nutrition tailored to the plant’s needs

For field crops, fertiliser requirements are determined based on soil samples. Commonly used fertilisers are: DCM MIX 2, DCM VIVISOL®, DCM VIVIFOS® and DCM MICRO-MIX YELLOW. DCM organic fertilisers are also used when forcing in boxes. DCM MIX 2, for example, is mixed into the potting soil as a basic fertiliser, and this year, for the first time, DCM MICRO-MIX YELLOW was spread in the boxes after planting. ‘During the Dutch Lily days the lilies looked beautiful and the colour was excellent, according to Nico Vletter’.

By using DCM VIVISOL® MINIGRAN® soil life is extra stimulated. DCM VIVISOL® MINIGRAN® increases the diversity and activity of soil life, so that soil processes run optimally. Mutual competition between the different organisms ensures that harmful organisms are inhibited, which reduces the risk of disease.

Soil life, stimulated by DCM VIVISOL® MINIGRAN®, transforms organic matter into nutrients for the plant. During this process, humic and fulvic acids are formed, which stimulate roots and nutrient absorption! The added bacteria (Bacillus sp. including Bacillus amyloliquefaciens) colonize the rhizosphere, release the nutrients present and make them absorbable by the plant roots.

Resilient and healthy plants

This results in good root development and healthy plants. A healthy plant is less susceptible to harmful diseases. In short, for healthy soil life and resilient plants: use DCM VIVISOL® MINIGRAN®!

Its composition NPK 7-6-12 + 4 MgO, makes DCM MIX 2 the ideal DCM fertiliser for amenity horticulture. MINIGRAN^®, DCM’s unique mini-granules, allow efficient fertilization.

DCM MICRO-MIX YELLOW is an easily spreadable mix of trace elements: boron B, copper Cu, iron Fe, manganese Mn, molybdenum Mo and zinc Zn. It prevents and remedies deficiency symptoms (growth adjustment) in open field and potting soil crops.
