A quick boost for the football pitch of SV Elversberg with TURFORTE® BOOST

A visibly greener and denser turf within three days? The liquid fertiliser TURFORTE® BOOST immediately proved its effectiveness on the SV Elversberg stadium pitch and allowed for easy and even application.

Trial purpose

Achieving a strong, deep green turf in a challenging environment: that was the reason for this practical test on the stadium turf of SV Elversberg in Spiesen-Elversberg, Germany.

Due to a high percentage of undesirable grass species such as Poa annua, in combination with frequent irrigation, uneven fertilization and limited maintenance possibilities, the football pitch suffered from stress conditions such as red thread disease and patchy turf burn.

The regular fertilization plan turned out to be inadequate. Due to the intensive use of the irrigation system, nutrients leached out quickly, significantly reducing the nutrient uptake efficiency. In addition, regular maintenance such as scarifying or overseeding was temporarily impossible due to a lack of personnel and limited machine capacity.

Challenges:

  • Low uptake efficiency of solid fertilisers due to intensive irrigation

  • Turf damage caused by red thread disease

  • Turf burn due to uneven fertilization in the past

  • Limited resources for turf repair on the sports fields

We wanted to find out if applying TURFORTE® BOOST — a liquid nitrogen fertiliser — could strengthen the grass in the short term and recreate an even, intensely green turf.

Results 

After applying TURFORTE® BOOST with the spray boom, the difference was clearly visible after just three days. The turf was not only greener, but also noticeably more vigorous, with strong and uniform growth across the entire field surface.
