Bevlo noticed its plants becoming exhausted as the crop cycle progressed
Strawberry producer Bevlo is a pioneer in sustainable cultivation. They were among the first in Belgium to test a UV‑C robot for fungal control. This has allowed them to significantly reduce fungicide use and drastically cut the number of active substances applied. Bevlo also strongly believes in the added value of resilient strawberry plants.
Every year, they noticed that their strawberry plants struggled more after every flush: towards the end of the crop cycle, production declined and the plants showed signs of ageing. To get the most out of their cultivation, they tested DCM LEAFGEL® NK on the Lady Emma variety on substrate.
Why does Bevlo choose DCM
DCM was already a familiar partner for Bevlo. The company had been using other DCM fertilisers and was in regular contact with a DCM expert who provides tailored product advice by sharing his knowledge and experience. Based on the challenges described, the expert recommended DCM LEAFGEL® NK. DCM's expertise in resilient cultivation, combined with the positive results achieved in earlier trials with the product in other crops, ultimately convinced Bevlo to try it themselves.
The experience with DCM
After the first application of 0.5 l/ha (203 l of water), a leaf sap analysis was carried out. This showed that both young and old leaves already contained significantly higher levels of organic nitrogen compared to the standard fertilisation programme. With DCM LEAFGEL® NK, nitrogen is clearly taken up efficiently thanks to its unique composition, which facilitates the absorption of amino acids. In this way, the product can be used to give plants an extra boost.
