In collaboration with the research centre Scientia Terrae in Sint‑Katelijne‑Waver, DCM set up a basil trial using DCM Leafgel® NK as a foliar fertiliser, alongside several commonly used alternative amino‑acid‑based foliar feeds available on the market.
A total of eight foliar applications were carried out in the different objects. The dosages were standardised to the same nitrogen input, based on the recommended dose of DCM Leafgel® NK (3 g/L).
Visually, DCM Leafgel® NK shows a clear advantage over other products on the market. Leaf sap analyses show that foliar application with DCM Leafgel® NK results in a higher overall nitrogen content in the leaves, as well as a greater portion of organic nitrogen. This makes the plant's leaves less attractive to diseases and pests.
