Planning a new lawn ? Do you need to sow grass seed or lay turf? In both cases, rapid rooting is crucial! Phosphorus plays an essential role in this process. However, young roots can sometimes have difficulty taking up phosphate from the soil. We offer a solution that can help solve this problem.

Fast results when sowing

The faster the seeds germinate and take root, the sooner the turf becomes dense and ready for use. Readily available phosphorus is important for good root development. However, roots can sometimes have difficulty taking up phosphate from the soil due to structural problems or an excessively high pH. With its high phosphorus content, DCM VIVIFOS® can help reduce this problem. Young grass establishes more quickly and the turf becomes dense sooner, including when overseeding damaged areas in lawns or sports turf.

Better rooting of turf

The easily absorbable phosphorous contained in DCM VIVIFOS® also promotes faster rooting of ready-to-lay turf. The phosphorous is released gradually and continuously over several weeks, even in soils with a high pH. This allows the grass to continue taking up phosphorous efficiently, supporting better and faster rooting. The result? Turf that quickly anchors itself to the soil and starts growing straight away.

In practice

In a trial with ready-to-lay turf, rooting was evaluated one week after laying. The turf treated with DCM VIVIFOS® showed the highest root concentration. More force was also required to lift up this turf, indicating that the roots had already become more firmly anchored in the soil. After washing the roots from the three treatments, the roots of the turf treated with DCM VIVIFOS® were noticeably longer and showed more extensive growth.

In practice

In a trial using DCM VIVIFOS® as a maintenance fertiliser, the trial plot treated with DCM VIVIFOS® (far-right photo) showed higher grass growth, higher density and better colour 1.5 months after establishment than the plot treated with another mineral phosphorus fertiliser. A higher concentration of roots was also observed below ground.
